UMW Purpose

United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

 

 

Who we are:
United Methodist Women (UMW) – National Organization is an agency of the United Methodist Church and has oversight of the denomination’s deaconess and home missioner programs within the new national United Methodist  Churches organization. UMW advocates for the oppressed and dispossessed with special needs of women, children and youth works to build a supportive community among women, and helps foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement. Each unit is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Keynote Speaker: Stephanie Friant
Stephanie works for Launch Ministries which meets in the Moravian church in Chaska. They have a ministry supporting Late Teens' issues. The teens families have turned their backs on them due to issues around sexuality (gay, lesbian, etc.); pregnancy; homelessness; or other issues. The ministry supports a drop-in center that is open during the day and early evening. There are no beds, but teens can bring a sleeping bag.
