General Conference 2016 United Methodist Women Day

 

 

United Methodist Women members: Join us for United Methodist Women Day at General Conference! activities include:

-- Consecration of new deaconesses and home missioners (8am to 9am, plenary hall)

-- Meet United Methodist Women delegates, staff and members.

-- United Methodist Women 150th anniversary from the floor of General Conference (plenery hall, 3:53 to 4pm)

-- Visit the United Methodist Women exhibit booth and prayer stations

Plan to come, and spread the word!

Where: Oregon Convention Center 777 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Portland, Oregon

When: Monday May 16 8am to 7pm

Come as you are able during these times.

Onsite information: Come to the United Methodist Women exhibit in Exhibit Hall A and A1, booth 162, for the latest details on United Methodist Women Day events and location.

Briefing on United Methodist Women legislative agenda at General Conference. Visit United Methodist Women booth for time and venue.

12:45 to 1:45 p.m.

Don’t Poison Our Water: Water is a Human Right!

A United Methodist Women public witness on environmental justice. Oregon Convention Center Plaza, opposite the Oregon Ballroom.

Bring your United Methodist Women local, district and conference banners, shirts, hats, etc. You can make posters in the morning—visit the United Methodist Women exhibit booth for details. There will be seating for people with disabilities.

Volunteers are needed for this event to set up, greet, distribute snacks, hand out fliers and signs. If you would like to volunteer, contact Karen Morray, Oregon-Idaho United Methodist Women president (morray@comcast.net).

Plenary: 150th anniversary of United Methodist Women at 3:53 p.m.

Meet and greet United Methodist Women staff and delegates.

room 203. Visit United Methodist Women booth for location.

Feel free to depart after the meet and greet. For those who choose to stay, General Conference plenary continues until 6:30 p.m.

Logistics

Registration: It is not required for guests to register for General Conference.

However, if you would like a name badge and program, pre-register online at www.eiseverywhere.com/ereg/index.php?eventid=174689&.

Pre-registration closes on May 5. After that, you can register in person at the

Convention Center. Cost of registration is $10. If you pre-register you can pick up name badge and program at the registration area in the convention center.

Plenary seating: Guests are welcomed in the plenary hall in the guest seating area on a first-come, first-served basis.

Transportation: For directions and details on parking and public transit, go to www.oregoncc.org/visitors/parking-and-directions.

What to bring: United Methodist Women banners, scarves, pins, shirts and the like, if you have them. Bring hats, sneakers, bottles for water and bag lunches. Since the rally is at lunchtime, you may not have much time to purchase lunch at the convention center.
